Ticket packages on sale now for the 2024 AUS Basketball Championships, presented by Bell and G-series

(HALIFAX, N.S.) – Ticket packages for the 2024 AUS Basketball Championships, presented by Bell and G-series, are on sale nowThis year's championship weekend will take place Friday, Feb. 23rd to Sunday Feb. 25th at the Scotiabank Centre in downtown Halifax.

The three-day event consists of five doubleheader sessions with each session featuring one women’s game and one men’s game — emulating the format of the AUS regular season. This includes Sunday's championship final games. The full schedule for this year’s event is below.

“Once again, we look forward to hosting another magnificent weekend of basketball here in Halifax,” said AUS President and CEO, Phil Currie. “This is an event basketball fans in the area truly have circled on their calendars and we anticipate great crowds and great action all weekend long at Scotiabank Centre.”

The men's championship was played at Scotiabank Centre for the first time in 1979 — the year the facility opened — and has been hosted there more than 30 times since. The women's championship began running concurrently with the men's in 2015 as a pilot project and was announced as a permanent yearly fixture in 2018.

On the women's side of the draw, the Saint Mary’s Huskies will look to defend their title after defeating Acadia 68-56 in last year’s championship game. The win celebrated the 10-year anniversary of an AUS title that sparked four-straight trophy hoists for the maroon and white. The Huskies are hoping history will repeat itself.

With the season’s first semester of play wrapped up, the Huskies sit in second place in the league standings with a 6-2 record. UNB, who have not won an AUS title since 1999, sits atop the table at 7-1.

On the men's side, the STFX X-Men captured last year’s title in dominating fashion, beating UPEI 104-54 in the gold medal game. They will look to win consecutive titles for the first time since winning three in a row from 2004-06.

Currently, STFX find themselves in second place in the AUS standings with a 5-3 record. The Memorial Sea-Hawks hold down top spot in the standings at 6-4 and have their sights set on winning their first banner since 2008.
