(WOLFVILLE, N.S.) Penalty kicks had to resolve a tied quarterfinal game between the host and 3rd seeded Acadia Axewomen and sixth-seeded Memorial Sea-Hawks after 90 minutes of regulation time and 30 minutes of overtime.

Kate Hickey (Outer Cove, Nfld.), Zoe Rowe (Conception Bay, Nfld.), Alyssa Jenkins, Jamie King (St. John's, Nfld.), and Claire Langille (Windsor Junction, N.S.) scored on all five penalty kicks for the 5-3 win.
Both keepers were tested prior to the penalty kicks.
Subway Player of the Game, Sydney Walsh (St. John's, Nfld.), made 17 saves for the Sea-Hawks. The Axewomen took 38 shots – 20 of which were in the opening half – yet they could not find a way to get a ball past Walsh.
“The PK save in the first half got me into the game as much as I could have been. It got me really focused and dialed in and I think at that point the confidence filled me. Making a key save really helps get you through a game. Not just confidence for myself, but for the whole team. Just that they know they got a leader behind them,” noted Walsh following the win.
While Milena Ramirez (Wolfville, N.S.) didn’t face as many shots, she made key saves on five shots on goal to keep the game tied at nil.
The Axewomen had two key opportunities in the opening half on penalty kicks but came up empty-handed.
Axewomen Mya Harnish (Lower Sackville, N.S.) and Lauren Jodrey (Hammonds Plains, N.S.) each posted three shots on goal, while Sea-Hawk Isabella Ryan landed three on net. Harnish was named the Acadia Player of the Game for her effort.
The Sea-Hawks will face the Dalhousie Tigers in tomorrow’s second semifinal game set for a 6:00 pm start. StFX and Cape Breton will kick off the semifinal day at 3:00 pm.
