Axewomen remain undefeated in women's soccer action

After a 2-1 victory over the UNB Reds this weekend, the Acadia Axewomen have extended their record to 7-0-1 to sit at the top of the AUS women's soccer standings. The U SPORTS No. 5 Acadia Axewomen got a pair of goals from fifth-year striker Jenna Boudreau in the victory, with UNB's lone goal coming from Sylvie Fecteau. Acadia goalie Sarah Charnock made six saves in the victory.

At the historic Wanderers Ground Thursday evening, the Dalhousie Tigers hosted the Saint Mary's Huskies in the Halifax Derby. The Tigers offense erupted in the match, leading them to a 5-0 victory. Lara Casey earned herself the Subway Player of the Game title, picking up a goal and an assist in the win. Other Dalhousie goals came from Rachelle Lalande, Maya Venkataraman, Brenna Kettlewell and Riley Donovan

The Tigers have now won four straight, extending their record to 5-3-0, skyrocketing them into fourth in the standings. 

The Cape Breton Capers blanked the Mount Allison Mounties 5-0 in Sydney Saturday afternoon. Alliyah Rowe and Rachel Leck led the Capers with two goals apiece, with teammate Amelia Carlini also finding the back of the net. Rowe now leads all AUS scorers with nine goals on the season.

The UPEI Panthers had two games this weekend starting on Saturday afternoon when they visited the Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleues. UPEI played to a 3-1 victory, with Carly Connell, Sarah Eden and Caitlyn McCloskey all getting on the board for the Panthers. The lone Moncton goal came from Natalie Fleming. 

The Panthers then hosted the Reds in Charlottetown Sunday afternoon, where they fell 2-1. Madison Goertz and Danika Lefebvre led the Reds with a goal each, while McCloskey got on the board for UPEI in the loss.

The StFX X-Women have still yet to lose a game and now sit in third in the standings, with a record of 5-0-3. Amanda Smith led the X-Women with two goals, with Melanie Belong, Mercy Miles and Hannah Engdahl-Hawach all finding the back of the net.
