Axewomen hand Capers first loss of the season

The Acadia Axewomen soar to the top of the AUS women's soccer standings as they topped the Cape Breton Capers 2-1 Sunday afternoon. Both teams entered Sunday's game looking to maintain their perfect regular-season records.

Just nine minutes into the game, Acadia striker Jenna Boudreau (Halifax, N.S.) took off down the right side of the field and got a clean shot on net which was deflected by Capers goaltender Rachel Yerxa (Mississauga, Ont.), but a failed attempt to clear the ball resulted in an own-goal for the Capers. At the 25:18 mark of the game, Boudreau gave the Axewomen a 2-0 lead. Caleigh MacPherson put the Capers on the board at the 43:03 mark, but Acadia was able to hold on for the win.
