(SYDNEY, N.S.) In the first men's semifinal matchup of the Subway AUS Soccer Championships, the Saint Mary's Huskies took on the U SPORTS No. 2-ranked and top-seeded Cape Breton Capers.

The Capers came out firing on all cylinders, forcing Saint Mary's keeper Jenson Brown (Enfield, N.S.) to make several diving saves.

Cape Breton's defence was solid, and Saint Mary's opportunities were limited, but Capers keeper Ben Jackson (Bury, United Kingdom) was forced to make one diving save.

Cape Breton led in shots, with Cory Bent (Preston, United Kingdom) and Charlie Waters (Lancashire, United Kingdom) getting chances, but unable to find the back of the net. The first half ended scoreless.

The second half starts with Cape Breton making a run into the Saint Mary's zone. After a scramble in front of the net, Waters slowed the ball down and punched a shot past the keep giving the Capers the 1-0 lead.

Cape Breton struck again in the 55th minute, when Bent used a great dribble move to get past the Huskies defenders and notch a goal of his own to put the Capers up 2-0.

Brown made an impressive save in the 80th minute to prevent Cape Breton from growing their lead.

The Capers defence held strong, led by two-time AUS MVP Peter Schaale (Bernkastel-Kues, Germany), and held on for the 2-0 shut out.

Schaale was named Subway Player of the Game. Brown earned the nod for the Huskies in the loss.

The defending champion Capers now advance to Sunday's championship final where they will face the StFX X-Men for the conference title. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
