Sea-Hawks Earn Third Straight Victory

After opening the season with an 0-3-2 record, the Memorial Sea-Hawks earned a pair of weekend wins to extend their streak to three and rise up the AUS men's soccer standings.

Memorial hosted Acadia for a two game series in St. John's this weekend, with the Sea-Hawks walking away with a huge 6 points. On Saturday, the Sea-Hawks blanked the Axemen 2-0 with striker Kyle Williams scoring a pair of goals in the victory, earning Subway Player of the Game honours.

Sunday afternoon, Memorial soared to a huge 5-0 win, with Williams getting his third goal of the weekend. Other Memorial goals came from Alex Dolomount, Harry Carter, Jacob Grant and Tyler Kirby. The Sea-Hawks now sit in seventh in the standings with 11 points. 

The StFX X-Men walked away with a pair of weekend wins after playing two home games. They played to a 3-0 victory in Antigonish Friday night, with Dan Hayfield, Tane Caubo and Ben Herringer being credited for their tallies. 

They then hosted the Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleus Sunday afternoon, blanking them 3-0. Hayfield found the back of the net twice for the X-Men, with Caubo also earning his second goal of the weekend in the win.

The Cape Breton Capers remain undefeated to sit atop the standings with a 2-0 win over the Aigles Bleus. Caelan Budhoo and Charlie Waters led the Capers to victory with a goal apiece.

The UPEI Panthers walked away with four points this weekend with a win and a draw. The Panthers topped the Mount Allison Mounties 1-0 in Sackville Friday night, with Nathan Chow earning the lone goal in the match.

They then played to a 3-3 draw against the Dalhousie Tigers in Charlottetown Sunday afternoon. The Panthers surrendered an early lead, but managed to hold on for the point. Goals for UPEI came from Sam Smiley (2) and Mohammad Jaber, while Freddy Bekkers, Jacob Bolton and Gracious Kasheke scored for Dalhousie.

Dalhousie also earned four points on the weekend, defeating the UNB Reds 2-1 Friday evening. Bekkers found the back of the net for the Tigers, along with teammate Skyler Bryant, while Grant Takacs earned the lone goal for the Reds. 

The Reds bounced back Saturday afternoon, as they earned a 4-1 win over the Huskies in Halifax. The Reds were led by Ben Gorringe, who earned two tallies in the match, along with teammates Keji Adeniyi and Tristan Nkoghe who also found the back of the net. Cameron Zinn got on the board for Saint Mary's in the loss.
