Panthers win back-to-back games to climb men's soccer rankings

With weekend wins over the Memorial Sea-Hawks and Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleus, the UPEI Panthers have climbed up the AUS rankings. The Panthers hosted the Sea-Hawks in Charlottetown on Saturday, blanking them 3-0. Goals from the home team came from Mohammad Jaber, Donovan Wyand and Ignacio Sanchez

The Panthers then went on to defeat the Aigles Bleus 2-0 Sunday afternoon. Cohen Reddick-Stevens and Jaber found the back of the net in the victory.

The weekend action kicked off Friday night with the U SPORTS no. 1 ranked Cape Breton Capers doubling the Saint Mary's Huskies 4-2 to hand them their first loss of the season. Charlie Waters scored a hattrick in the win, with Cory Bent also earning a tally for the Capers. Cian Tousignant-Osiadhail and Tyler Dorey got on the board for the host Huskies.

The Acadia Axemen hosted the Dalhousie Tigers Friday night, playing to a 2-2 draw and both walking away with a point. Gordon McLaughlin put two in the back of the net for Acadia while Jacob Bolton and Jeff Arkin earned tallies for Dalhousie. 

In Saturday action, the StFX X-Men earned a convincing 6-1 victory in Sackville over the Mount Allison Mounties Saturday, with Tane Caubo earning a hattrick in the win. Dan Hayfield, William Warren and Mac Murray also saw the back of the net for the X-Men, while Ziad Abdelrahman scored the lone goal for the Mounties.

After their victory over the Huskies on Friday, the Capers then extended their season streak to 5-0-1 Sunday afternoon as they earned a huge 6-0 victory over the Axemen. Marcus Campanile and Caelan Budhoo both posted two goals each in the win, with teammates Jack Simpson and Isaiah Johnston also posting a tally each.

The UNB Reds rallied to tie the X-Men 3-3 Sunday afternoon, with Luis Garcia scoring on a penalty kick in the 82nd minute to tie the game for the home side. Other goals in the game came from StFX's Tane Caubo (2) and Dan Hayfield, and UNB's Ben Gorringe and Dan Walker.

After their loss to the Panthers on Saturday, the Sea-Hawks bounced back to top the Mount Allison Mounties 2-1 Sunday afternoon. Goals came from Memorial's Kyle Williams and Jacob Grant, with Xavier Tshimpangila scoring the lone goal for the Mounties. 

The Tigers took on the Huskies Sunday afternoon, where they doubled Saint Mary's 4-2. Enrico Rodriguez scored a hattrick for the Tigers in the win, with teammate Manolhas Karakada also finding the back of the net in the win. Tyler Dorey and Neil Spires got on the board for the Huskies in the loss.
