Offensive Player of the Week

Name: Zach Houde

STFX receiver Zach Houde is the AUS offensive player of the week for the week ending September 25, 2022.

Houde, a first-year year climate and environment science student from Thetford Mines, Quebec, scored two touchdowns in the X-Men’s 26-7 win over Mount Allison on Sunday. Both touchdowns came in the third quarter as he connected for passes of 17 and 23 yards, giving the STFX a decisive 21-0 lead at the time. Houde had nine catches in the game for 178 total yards, averaging 19.8 yards per reception.

Defensive Player of the Week

Name: Alex Fedchun
University: St. Francis Xavier University
Position: Defensive lineman
Hometown: Calgary, Alberta
Year of eligibility: Fifth
Academic program: Bachelor of Arts
Height and weight: 6’5”, 245 lbs

STFX defensive lineman Alex Fedchun is the AUS defensive player of the week for the week ending September 25, 2022.

Fedchun, a fifth-year human kinetics student from Calgary, Alberta once again put up key defensive plays for the X-Men. In their 26-7 win over Mount Allison on Sunday, he had a fumble recovery for 69 yards that set up the first field goal of the game. Fedchun also had 2.5 sacks for a loss of nine yards, along with three solo tackles and two assisted tackles. He is currently tied for third overall in AUS tackling with 23 on the season.

Special Teams Player of the Week

Name: Ben Hadley
University: St. Francis Xavier University
Position: Kicker/Punter
Hometown:  Halifax, Nova Scotia
Year of eligibility: Third
Academic program: Bachelor of Business Administration
Height and weight: 6’2”, 193lbs

STFX kicker/punter Ben Hadley is the AUS special teams player of the week for the week ending September 25, 2022.

Hadley, a third-year business student from Halifax, Nova Scotia, kicked two field goals and a pair of extra points, contributing eight points in the X-Men’s 26-7 win over Mount Allison on Sunday. He booted field goals from 18 and 33 yards out and had three kick-offs for 191 yards, averaging 63.7 yards per kick. Hadley currently leads the AUS in kicking percentage with 86 percent.
