Week 12 AUS Football Players of the Week: Socholotiuk, Fedchun and Pike honoured

(HALIFAX, N.S.) StFX running back Jordan Socholotiuk, defensive lineman Alex Fedchun and defensive back Jeremy Pike, have been selected as the Week 12 AUS football players of the week for their respective performances this past weekend.

Offensive Player of the Week
Name: Jordan Socholotiuk
University: St. Francis Xavier University
Position: Running Back
Hometown:  Waterford, Ont.
Year of eligibility:  Fifth
Academic program: BA
Height and weight: 5'9", 196 lbs

StFX X-Men running back Jordan Socholotiuk is the Atlantic University Sport football offensive player of the week for the week ending Nov. 11, 2018.

An arts student in his fifth year of eligibility from Waterford, Ont., Socholotiuk was named championship MVP of the Subway AUS Loney Bowl this past Saturday as StFX downed Saint Mary's 33-9 to claim the conference title.

He had 179 rushing yards on 34 carries, averaging 5.3 yards per carry.

The leading rusher in the country this year, Socholotiuk and the X-Men now advance to the U SPORTS Uteck Bowl this Saturday, Nov. 17 versus the Laval Rouge et Or.

StFX X-Men defensive lineman Alex Fedchun is the AUS football defensive player of the week for the week ending Nov. 11, 2018.

A first-year human kinetics student from Calgary, Alta., Fedchun had 8.5 tackles (six solo and five assisted) in StFX's championship win over the Saint Mary's Huskies Saturday in Halifax, N.S.

These included 4.5 tackles for a loss of 17 yards and 2.5 sacks for a loss of 13 yards.

Fedchun also had a forced fumble for a loss of 15 yards, along with a pass break up, as the X-Men advanced to the U SPORTS Uteck Bowl game this Saturday versus the Laval Rouge et Or.


Special Teams Player of the Week

Hometown: Cornwall, Ont.
Year of eligibility: Third
Academic program: BA
Height and weight: 5'11", 187 lbs

StFX X-Men defensive back Jeremy Pike is the AUS football special teams player of the week.

A fifth-year arts student in his third year of eligibility from Cornwall, Ont., Pike played a big game defensively on the StFX special team unit, contributing to their 33-9 win over Saint Mary's in the Subway AUS Loney Bowl championship game.

He had excellent downfield coverage and blocking in limiting the Huskies returners.

Pike also had three tackles on defence for the X-Men, along with an interception and a forced fumble.
