Tigers win Subway AUS Men's Curling Championship title

(FREDERICTON, N.B.) The Dalhousie Tigers and Mount Allison Mounties are celebrating 2018 Subway Atlantic University Sport Curling Championships.

The Tigers took the men’s title with an 8-1 win over the host UNB Varsity Reds, while the Mounties earned the women’s championship with a 6-2 over the Memorial Sea-Hawks.

In the men’s title game, Robert Mayhew’s Dal rink scored four in the fifth end, and stole another in the sixth. UNB’s Jack Smeltzer foursome shook hands with the Tigers after the sixth end.

In the women’s final, the Krista Nix rink scored one in the fourth end, two more in the fifth, and another in the sixth, to beat Memorial’s Rebecca Roberts.

All four team now advance to the U SPORTS Curling Championships, in Leduc, Alta., March 24-28.
