(SACKVILLE, NB) The Mounties women were looking to bounce back after a 4-2 defeat in their last match against the Cape Breton Capers. The Mounties took to the field Friday afternoon against an overcast backdrop at Alumni Field against the UNB Reds.
Both teams traded chances in the first half hour before the Mounties started to ramp up the pressure and win several corners. The women were able to breakthrough off one of those corners in the 42nd minute as Hailey Frampton (Oshawa, ON) headed home to give the Mounties a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
The Reds came out firing in the second half, taking just 3 minutes to equalize as Olivia Crowe (Fall River, NS) found the back of the net in the 48th minute. The Reds controlled the possession for the majority of the second half but were unable to find a winner, with the match ending in a 1-1 draw. Isabel Tanfara (Quispamsis, NB) of Mount Allison was named Player of the Game for her performance in goal for the Mounties.
Mount Allison (0-7-2) are back in action Sunday afternoon at home against the Cape Breton Capers for Senior Day festivities. Kick-off is set for 1:00pm. The UNB Reds (2-5-3) take the field again Friday, October 20th at home, also against the Cape Breton Capers.
