HALIFAX, N.S. — The Acadia Axemen started 2025 with a dominant 8-3 win over the Dalhousie Tigers on Monday.

Bailey Peach contributed a goal and an assist, and Marc Boudreau netted the game-winner. Thomas Couture made 24 saves in the victory.
Acadia jumped to a 2-0 first-period lead with goals from Burns and Tyler Deline, the latter on the power play. Dalhousie's Liam Peyton responded with a power-play marker, but Peach closed the period with a late goal to make it 6-1.
MacDonald added his second early in the third, and Conor Shortall pushed the Axemen's lead to 8-1. Dalhousie closed the gap with goals from Peyton and Paul Hughes, but it wasn't enough.
Peyton led the Tigers with two goals, while goalie Nicholas Chenard made 31 saves in the loss.
The Axemen controlled the game with a balanced attack and strong special teams play, starting the year on a high note, which they will look to carry into Friday night's home game against STFX. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Andrew H McCain Arena.
