The Memorial Sea-Hawks (2-3) improve their record on the season with a dominant 72-45 victory over the visiting Dalhousie Tigers (0-5) at the MUN Fieldhouse.

The Sea-Hawks and Tigers would battle in a tight opening frame, eventually escaping the opening 10 minutes with a 3-point lead. However, in the second quarter the floodgates would open, mainly due to a tremendous defensive effort by the home team. The Sea-Hawks stingy defence would limit the Tigers to five points in the frame, entering the second half with a 39-20 lead.

Most of the second half would continue to be all Sea-Hawks, and they were able to coast home to victory thanks to their impressive opportunistic offence and tough defence.

Sea-Hawks top scoring threat Alana Short was dominant on the offensive end, posting a game-high 19 points, to go along with five rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block. Helping the Sea-Hawks to victory were two key pieces off the bench, in Emma Power and Alyssa Jenkins. Power added 11 points while Jenkins added a crucial 12 points to the Sea-Hawks cause.

On the Tigers side Anna Parsons was the catalyst for the visitors, finishing with a team-high 17 points and seven rebounds. Adding to the Tigers cause was Mercy Olugu and her seven points and seven rebounds. The Tigers will try and build off their performance today and build more confidence heading into tomorrow's final meeting between the two teams.
