Antigonish, NS - The STFX X-Women won their second game in a row on Saturday night, dropping the Dalhousie Tigers 75-54 at home on Coach K Court. It was an important victory for the X-Women, as the game was worth four points in the standings.

Melina Collins (Brookside, NS) was the top scorer for STFX, netting 15 points, eight rebounds, and a pair of steals. Aliyah Fraser (New Glasgow, NS) had 13 points in the win, including three three-pointers, along with three rebounds and two assists.

Abby Carpenter (Torbay, NL) had nine points and three rebounds for the Tigers and earned player of the game honours for her squad, while Katie Wuotila (Calgary, AB) chipped in seven points and a rebound.

The teams traded buckets early in the first quarter, with Dalhousie holding a 9-7 lead halfway through the quarter. However, X picked of the pace and a trio of three pointers helped bring the home team out front 21-13 by the end of the first 10 minutes.

The Tigers got the better of the X-Women early in the second quarter, with the Tigers going on an 8-2 run in the first five minutes, but STFX kept their composure and were able to hold on a 34-27 lead heading into the locker rooms.

The Tigers didn't make it easy on the X-Women though, creating eight points off eight turnovers by the home team, versus three for the visitors in the first half.

Collins had 13 points in the first half for the X-Women, while Wuotila had seven for Dalhousie.

STFX came out strong in the third quarter, dropping seven points before the Tigers were able to make a bucket. About halfway through the quarter, the teams exchanged three pointers, as the Tigers fought their way back into the game. However, the X-Women kept making shots and extended their lead to 56-41 at the end of the third quarter.

The blue and white kept their feet on the gas in the fourth quarter, and finished strong, taking home the win. Karchevskaya dropped six points on the Tigers in the fourth quarter.

The Tigers next hit the court on January 20, when they host UNB. The X-Women host UPEI for a pair of games next weekend, with the first happening on Friday night.
