The Dalhousie women's soccer team beat Saint Mary's 1-0 on October 14, at Wickwire Field to remain undefeated this season.

In the first half, both teams tested their opponent's defence. Dalhousie striker Elise Evans (Toronto, ON) was a strong attacking force, peppering the Huskies' net with shots from the left side.

The Tigers grabbed an early lead in the 12th minute when striker Jordan Mansfield (Vancouver, BC) jumped on fellow striker, Chloe Richardson's rebound. The ball easily found its way past Huskies keeper Grace Morrison (Halifax, NS) into the bottom left of the net.

The rest of the half was filled with many goal scoring opportunities from Saint Mary's, led by fourth year forward Julia Dorey (Cole Harbour, NS). Dorey was feeding strikers with chances but was not just able to get past Tigers defender Paris Axam (Ottawa, ON).

The Huskies went on the offense in the second half. In the 53rd minute, defender Molly McLeod (Kamloops, BC) crossed into the box from the left, narrowly missing forward Virgnia Boone's (Halifax, NS) head.

The Saint Mary's strikers gave Tigers keeper Emily Toth (Markham, ON), with first year midfielder Charlotte Baines (Halifax, NS) creating back-to-back chances in the 54th and the 57th minutes.

The Tigers were able to maintain their lead with strategic defensive passing, helped in no small part by second year midfielder Megan Chiasson. Chiasson was named the Subway Player of the game for her hard work.

The Huskies' next game is on October 16 and will see them face the Acadia Axewomen. The Tigers travel to Moncton on the same day, in what will be an exciting contest.

Both games kick off at 1 pm.
