ANTIGONISH, NS - The U SPORTS No. 6 ranked STFX X-Women earned their ninth consecutive win of the season, dropping the UPEI Panthers 4-0 under the stadium lights Saturday evening at STFX.

The X-Women controlled possession throughout the majority of the first half and were rewarded with a pair of goals before the break.

Lauren Reid (Kanata, ON) opened the scoring in the 17th minute, tapping one in off a corner kick from Cheyenne Bower (London, ON). Emma Steen (Stittsville, ON) doubled the home squad's lead, heading one over the UPEI keeper in the 41st minute.

Both teams picked up the pace in the second half, but STFX continued to pull away. AUS leading scorer Amanda Smith (Ottawa, ON) added her 14th goal of the season in the 70th minute before the Panthers conceded an own goal shortly after.

Claudia Mazzei (Milton, ON) made eight saves in the net for the Panthers, while Christina Gentile (Laval, QC) and Hailey Jones (Ottawa, ON) split the shutout for the X-Women.

Player of the game honours were awarded to Cheyenne Bower for the home squad, and Mickayla Vos for the visitors.

Both teams return to the pitch on Sunday, October 15. The X-Women will host Memorial, and the Panthers will play on the road against Saint Mary's.
