Bell powers Huskies to straight set win over Aigles Bleues

The Saint Mary's Huskies defeated the Moncton Aigles Bleues in straight sets (25-21, 30-28, 25-19) on Saturday afternoon in Moncton, N.B.

After a start dominated by the Aigles Bleues, the Huskies quickly caught up to regain the lead. Thanks to a solid defense from the Aigles, the first set was played neck and neck. The Huskies eventually won 25-21.

After a big start in the second set, the Huskies took a 23-13 lead, but the Blue and Gold played it all and managed to level the score and finally admit defeat 30 to 28. The end of the second set was very close until the end.

The third set was very close for the Aigles and Huskies until the end, despite a good defense for the home team. The Huskies ended up winning the third set 25-19, which allowed them to emerge victorious.

Subway player of the game Olivia Bell (Lahave, NS) led the visitors' offense with 14 kills and 10 digs. Emilia Mikanovich (Minsk, Belarus) had 14 digs. Joanie Arsenault scored 13 kills for the Aigles Bleues and 12 digs. Anne Paquette had 19 digs.

The two teams will meet again on Sunday at 2 p.m. at CEPS Louis-J Robichaud.
