Antigonish, NS - The Memorial Sea-Hawks won their second game of a weekend doubleheader with the STFX X-Women, dropping the home squad 103-67 on Coach K Court Sunday afternoon.

Leading the way for the Sea-Hawks were Alana Short (Barrie, ON) with 25 points, eight rebounds, and two assists, and Ines Salat Margarit (Barcelona, SP) with 24 points, 12 of which came from three-point land, and eight rebounds.

STFX's Melina Collins (Brookside, NS) led all scorers with 30 points, including four three-pointers, while Jaya D'Souza (Brampton, ON) knocked down 11 points, going 3-4 from beyond the arc.

Memorial was on fire early, establishing a 14-4 lead within the first four minutes of the game. After a time out from X head coach Matt Spencer, the X Women calmed things down and made about cutting into the early deficit. After some back and forth buckets, the score at the end of the quarter was 26-19.

The visitors reestablished a 10-point lead early in the second quarter, with their high tempo offence resulting in two players hitting double digits in points by the midway mark of the second quarter. Their scoring chances were bolstered by their dominance on the boards, collecting 43 rebounds to the X-Women's 23. Score at the end of the half was 48-34 in favor of Memorial.

The Sea-Hawks kept up the pressure in the second half, at one point extending their lead to 25 in the third quarter. The X Women kept running and pushing for points, but weren't able to gain any ground in the fourth quarter on the sharp shooting Sea-Hawks, who hit 11 shots from beyond the arc.

The Sea-Hawks, whose record extended to 5-3 on the regular season, wrapped up the first half of their season and don't play again until January 7, when they will travel to Halifax to take on the Dalhousie Tigers.

The X-Women, who have yet to find the win column this season, take on Dalhousie next Friday for a four point game in Halifax.
