X-Men roll over Sea-Hawks 121-63

Antigonish, NS – The U SPORTS No. 7 ranked STFX X-Men rolled over the Memorial Sea-Hawks 121-63 in AUS action Saturday night on Coach K Court at the Saputo Centre.

The X-Men delivered a well-balanced attack as seven players were in double scoring digits and all 12 X-Men put points on the scoreboard.

STFX outpaced the Sea-Hawks 29-21 in the first quarter.

They went on a roll two minutes into the second frame and after a 7-0 run were up by 18 points, 41-23.

The STFX offense exploded for 37 total points in the second quarter, while holding the Sea-Hawks to only 15.

Antoine Vernon (Hamilton, ON) scored 14 points in the opening half for the X-Men, including a pair from three-point range as they held a 66-36 lead at halftime.

Dondre Reddick (Antigonish, NS) scored 12 but went down with an injury late in the half.

Emanuel Ring (St. John's, NL) had 13 points for Memorial in the first half.

STFX continued to roll in the third quarter, outscoring the Sea-Hawks 25-17 as they built up a 91-53 lead after 30 minutes of play.

Memorial was held scoreless for the first six minutes of the fourth quarter as the X-Men outplayed them 30-10 in the final frame.

Subway player of the game Vernon scored 18 points for X and Bennet Grumbach (Toronto, ON) had 17 as the X-Men shot 58.6% from field goal range.

The blue and white contributed 56 points off the bench and their 121 point total was the highest single game total to date in AUS action this season.

The same two teams will be back in action tomorrow afternoon on STFX's Coach K Court with a 2:00 pm tip-off.
