
Moncton Holds Off Mount Allison

(Sackville, NB) The Moncton Aigles Bleues were back in Sackville to take on the Mount Allison Mounties for the second time in a week.
Moncton got the early edge with a goal from Maritza Labrie three minutes into the first period. Forty seconds later Arianne Roy found the back of the net to make the score 2-0 for the visitors. Moncton wasn't finished yet as Erica Plourde ripped a shot into the top corner for a 3-0 lead going into the first intermission.
Mount Allison got on the board mid-way through the second period on a power play marker from Ashlyn Zaharia. Moncton pushed back with two quick goals from Janie Caissie and Lianne Desforges. The Mounties were able to score one more before the period was out courtesy of Dallis Mackenzie, making the score 5-2 going into the second intermission.
The Mounties weren't done yet, as Dallis Mackenzie scored her second of the night one minute into the third period. Both teams traded chances with both goalies making some big saves to keep it at a two-goal game. Moncton got one final tally off the stick of Elizabeth Galipeau making the final score 6-3.
Moncton (13-7-3) is back in action Saturday, February 1st on the road against UNB, puck drop is at 3:00pm. Mount Allison (1-22) goes on the road on Saturday, February 1st against St. Thomas, puck drop is set for 7:00pm.
