Cape Breton beat Dalhousie 88-62 in women's basketball action on February 18, at the Dalhousie Fieldhouse.

In a matchup that featured the two teams in the conference who shoot the least amount of threes, both squads came out of the gates firing from deep. The Tigers and Capers combined to shoot a little under 38 threes per game, but they hoisted up 26 long balls in the first half alone. 

Leandra Hersey (Quispamsis, NB) was responsible for most of those attempts for CBU, as she drilled three triples in the first half to outpace Dalhousie's Kelsey Crocker (St.John's, NL), who knocked down two of her own. 

Kyara Letlow (Toronto, ON) was up to her usual tricks and the Tigers had no answers as to how to stop her. The AUS's rebounding leader racked up 20 points and 10 rebounds by halftime as the Capers led 48-32.

The second half continued to be the Kyara Letlow show, as she dominated her way to a gargantuan amount of points and rebounds. Her speed in the open court and strength and footwork in the low post was too much for a Tigers team that was fighting hard to contain her.

Letlow finished with 31 points, 19 rebounds and six assists to bring home the Subway Player of the Game award. 

Crocker was honoured after the game as the Tigers lone senior. She posted 11 points, two rebounds, and two assists in her final game wearing the black and gold.

The game marks the end of the season for the Tigers as they were eliminated from the playoffs earlier this season. They will use the offseason to improve on their weaknesses and build on the strengths of their young team (the youngest in all of USports) who showed flashes of greatness at times this season, including their massive win over UPEI this December.

 The Capers will have a week to prepare for their matchup with UPEI in next weekend's Subway AUS Basketball Championships held at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
