(Halifax, NS) - The Memorial Sea-Hawks buried the Dalhousie Tigers 80-56 on Saturday night at the Dalplex in Halifax, NS.

Led by player of the game Alana Short's (Barrie, ON) 26 points and 15 rebounds, the Sea-Hawks with the win tied UPEI for the fourth spot in the AUS.

Erin Long (St. John's, NL) scored the first points of the game after she posted up her defender from the three point line down to the paint where she sank the layup.

After Kaitlyn Ferrier (Calgary, AB) spun right into a layup for the Tigers' first basket of the game, the Sea-Hawks went on a 6-0 run with three layups capped off when Short banked in a basket.

The offences could not be stopped for a moment and with three minutes left in the first quarter Memorial had a 15-10 lead, which was increased after Brooke LeDevehat (Mount Pearl, NL) threaded the needle to Short who scooped in the layup.

Short added a three pointer to end the quarter with 15 points and a 23-15 lead.

Shortly into the new quarter, Simona Matic (Belgrade, Serbia) crossed up her defender and splashed a triple, but three layups by Memorial only grew the Sea-Hawks lead.

Memorial continued to grow their lead to 32-22, and after a steal by LeDevehat, the Tigers decided to talk it over.

Out of the timeout, Ferrier deflected the Sea-Hawks pass and took it all the way down the court into a layup, but a few possessions later Hannah Green (Flatrock, NL) caught the ball then instantly sniped a three pointer.

Matic's layup at the buzzer cut the Memorial lead down to 42-28.

Out of halftime, the Sea-Hawks continued to add to their scoring onslaught first when Short banked in a layup, then a possession later when Green splashed a three to begin a 14-0 run out of half.

Ferrier's midrange basket ended the scoreless streak for the Tigers, but their offensive struggles continued when Sydney Guker-Wickie's (Kitchner, ON) layup attempt was turned away by Claire Hickman (St. John's, NL).

After a short run by Dalhousie brought the lead to 58-35, Short ripped the ball from Matic and sent LeDevehat on the fastbreak, where she cashed in a layup to swing momentum back to Memorial.

The Sea-Hawks ended the third quarter with a 62-38 lead.

Right out of the break Eva Widmeyer (Dartmouth, NS) scored a three pointer that was matched by a LeDevehat layup, and then Alyssa Jenkins (St. Johns, NL) put in another layup to erase Widmeyer's effort.

Despite the Tigers' efforts for a comeback, the Sea-Hawks continued to increase their lead, and ended the night with a 80-56 win.

The two teams will meet tomorrow for a rematch where Memorial will look to move into sole possession of fourth place in the AUS.
