
Mounties Come Back Falls Short Against Tommies

(Sackville, NB) The Mount Allison Mounties returned to the Veterans Memorial Civic Centre in Sackville Saturday night to complete their weekend back-to-back against a St. Thomas Tommies team coming off a shootout win against Dalhousie.
The Tommies opened the scoring in the first period with a goal from Trinity Webber on a nice set up from Nadia Lavoie at the 15:28 mark. Both teams traded scoring chances but were unable to add any goals the rest of the first period.
The second period turned a little chippy with both teams taking a pair of penalties. Lauren Smith scored the only goal of the period for the Tommies to make the score 2-0 heading into the second intermission.
The Mounties came out in the third period with a renewed energy, creating scoring chances and getting pucks on net. Samantha Taylor scored a power play goal for Mount Allison to bring the score to 2-1. The Tommies were able to close the game out with key saves from goaltender and Player of the Game Tayler Cohen against six Mounties attackers.
St. Thomas (10-5-3) is back in action Friday, January 17th against St. Francis Xavier in Antigonish, puck drop is set for 7:00pm. Mount Allison (1-17) takes on St. Mary's at home on Friday, January 17th, puck drop is at 7:00pm.
