(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB REDS scored twice in each half to power their 4-1 home win against l'Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleues in Atlantic University Sport action on Saturday.

Today's game at the BMO Centre was a part of the REDS' Think Pink campaign, raising funds and awareness for cancer research.

UNB's Carolina Grzesniak (Oshawa, ON) snuck past the Moncton defense in the 3rd minute to score her first goal of the season.

The REDS would go on to dominate possession in the game. Goalkeeper Lauren Kelly (Fredericton, NB) saved all but one of Moncton's four shots.

In the 23rd minute, Moncton's Zoé Brockbank (Grand-Digue, NB) scored on a penalty kick, evening up the match at 1-1.

UNB's Aurora Hughes-Goyette (Highlands, BC), who was unable to connect on two previous tries, scored in the 29th minute to regain the REDS' lead.

"I thought the energy was really good all throughout the game," said Hughes-Goyette. "We were all supporting each other with all the little things that happened out there and it really kept our energy high."

Moncton goalkeeper Krista Phillips (Dalhousie, NB) made every effort to keep her team in the game, stopping eight UNB shots in the first half and two more in the second half.

After the half, Jillian Larose (Ottawa, ON) extended UNB's lead by scoring from inside the six-yard box in the 48th minute.

In the 68th minute, Kristin Hayward (Rothesay, NB) scored from beyond the 18-yard box to put the REDS up 4-1.

Hughes-Goyette was named Tim Hortons player of the game. The third-year student-athlete finished the game with one goal, one assist, and three more shots on goal.

"We performed really well," said said Hughes-Goyette. "We were playing for more than just the win here today. I think we put our best result forward and got the result we needed."
