REDS Win At Acadia

(WOLFVILLE, NS) The UNB REDS improved to 22-0-0-0 (W-L-OTL-SOL) with a 4-1 win, Saturday night over the Acadia Axemen, in Wolfville.

The U SPORTS No. 1 ranked REDS scored three third period goals and got a stand-out performance from goaltender Griffen Outhouse (Williams Lake, BC) in the win that came before a crowd of more than 900 at Acadia's Andrew H. McCain Arena.

Brady Gilmour (Grafton, ON) opened the scoring 13:32 into the first period, on the powerplay, giving UNB a 1-0, which held until the third period. The goal was the 100th regular season point of Gilmour's Atlantic University Sport career.

On another powerplay, UNB's Jason Willms (Kitchener, ON) doubled the lead just 38 seconds into the final period. Cole McKay (Sault Ste. Marie, ON) added an insurance marker less than three minutes later.

The lone goal for Acadia came on the powerplay, off the stick of Brendan Sellan (Bolton, ON) to cut the lead to two with 4:57 to go in game.

Michael Petizian (Mississauga, ON) added the final goal for UNB, into an empty net, with 26 seconds left on the clock. 

Outhouse made 22 saves in his 10th win of the season, while Zachary Paputsakis (Rockland, ON) made 28 saves in his second loss.

The AUS-leading REDS returns home and will host Moncton on Friday. Game time is 7:00pm. The Axemen head to Halifax that night to take on Dalhousie.
