Halifax, NS - The STFX X-Women beat the Dalhousie Tigers 8-1 in Wednesday night AUS women's hockey action at the Halifax Forum.

The X-Women got off to a quick start when Chloe Vukosa (Mississauga, ON) found the back of the net. STFX continued the with their scoring touch in the second half of the period when Lea MacLeod (Dartmouth, NS) scored a powerplay goal, followed up less than four minutes later by a Josie Chisholm (Antigonish, NS) marker.

The Tigers had significant penalty trouble in the first frame and were lucky that the X-Women only went one-for-four on the powerplay. The teams headed into the locker rooms at the end of the first period with the X-Women up 3-0.

Dalhousie came out fighting in the second period with a noticeable spring in their step. It paid off for Paige Coulter-Vansickle (Millbrook, ON) halfway through the period when she slotted home a Lexie Small (Grand Falls, NL) rebound.

The Tigers continued to press after their goal, ringing the puck off the STFX post and cross bar a couple of times. It didn't take long for the X-Women to regain their three-goal lead when Maggy Burbidge (Falmouth, NS) found a way past Dalhousie goalie Grace Beer (Oakville, ON) to give the X-Women a 4-1 lead going into the third frame.

STFX showed why they are a nationally ranked team in the third period with Landyn Pitts (Antigonish, NS) and Ellie Brown (Kemptville, ON) both scoring twice to give the X-Women an 8-1 final.

Josie Chisholm was named the Subway Player of the Game for the contest as the X-Women captain had a goal and three assists in the midweek outing.

The Tigers have only 48 hours to re-group after the loss. They return to home ice on Friday to face the number one team in the country: the UNB REDS. Puck drop is set for 7pm.

The X-Women hit the road again on Saturday, travelling to New Brunswick to face the St. Thomas Tommies. Puck drop is also set for 7pm.
