Antigonish, NS - The STFX X Men dropped the Cape Breton Capers 90-58 on Sunday afternoon on Coach K Court at the Saputo Centre. It was the fourth win in a row for the X-Men, who remain undefeated in AUS regular season play.

Leading the way for STFX were Subway player of the game Gatluak James (Windsor, ON) with 18 points including a trio of three-pointers and seven boards, David Muenkat (Brampton, ON) with 19 points and eight rebounds, and Dondre Reddick (Antigonish, NS), with 16 points and five rebounds.

For the Capers, Tyson Cato (Ajax, ON) was player of the game, scoring 19 points and adding five rebounds, while Justus Peuser (Geisenheim, GR) had 11 points and four boards, and Jason Callahan (Sydney, NS) chipped in seven points

The teams came out fast in the first quarter, with X shooting 39 per cent from the floor, and capitalized with six points off Caper turnovers, while also leading in rebounds. Meanwhile the Capers were able to hit the only three-pointer of the quarter. STFX led 20-16 at the end for the first 10 minutes.

In the second quarter, the X-Men went on a 14-6 run in the first five and a half minutes, eventually holding the Capers to 11 points in the quarter while netting 25 of their own. The X Men lead by 18 at halftime - 45-27 - thanks in part to their dominance on the glass, picking up 24 rebounds while limiting the Capers to 12 in the half. Reddick had 13 points in the half for the X Men while Cato had 11.

In the second half, the Capers had a nice start, scoring the first seven points of the quarter. The X-Men quickly composed themselves and went on a run of their own, including three shots from beyond the arc, eventually outscoring the Capers 21-16 in the quarter.

In the fourth quarter, The Capers and X-Men battled early, trading buckets but X kept up the pressure and the Capers couldn't close the gap as STFX closed out the 90-58 victory.

The X-Men are on the road next weekend to play two games against UPEI. The Capers are also on the road next weekend for a pair of games against the Acadia Axemen.
