The Dalhousie Tigers won their first AUS regular season game of 2023 Saturday Night, 89-75 over the Memorial Sea-Hawks.

The first quarter started out all Memorial, with the Sea-Hawks getting out to an early 7-0 lead. The Tigers came alive when Sam Maillet (Moncton, NB) pulled down a defensive rebound and went down the court, making the layup. Memorial was able to hang on to a slim 22-20 lead to end the quarter. Emanual Ring (St. John's, NL) had a team high 7 points in the quarter.

The close play continued in the second quarter with the game tied 38-38 at the half.

Memorial struggled in the second half from beyond the arc, going 0-6 in the third quarter. At the opposite end, the Tigers were hitting shot after shot. Malcolm Christie (Fredericton, NB) made both of his 3pt attempts on the way to his 9 points in the quarter.

The fourth quarter saw Ben Shoveller (Arnprior, ON) find his groove from outside the 3pt line, draining a 11 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter in his first game this season. Ring continued his strong play in the second half, ending the game with 25 points and 7 rebounds while fellow Sea-Hawk Nicolas Tuff (St. John's, NL) had a team high 28 points and 7 rebounds.

Maillet had a game high 8 assists in addition to his 6 rebounds and 11 points and was named the Subway player of the game for his efforts.

The Tigers now sit at 7-3 this season while the Sea-Hawks fall to 3-6 but are hanging on to a playoff spot. The teams return to the court Sunday at 2pm at Dalplex.
