Antigonish, NS - The Cape Breton University Capers defeated the STFX X Women 97-78 on Coach K Court at the Saputo Centre on Sunday afternoon.

Subway player of the game was Capers forward Kiyara Letlow (Toronto, ON), who earned a double-double mid-way through the second quarter, and finished with 32 points, and 16 rebounds.

Mackenzee Ryan (Glace Bay, NS) also had a strong game, dropping 29 points and going 4-7 from three-point land. Hailey Macleod (Marion Bridge, NS) chipped in 12 points along with seven rebounds and two assists.

For the X Women, Ekaterina Karchevskaya (Mogilev, BY) was player of the game, netting 21 points and four rebounds. Aliyah Fraser (New Glasgow, NS) had 20 points while shooting 3-4 from behind the arc, and Kira Atherly (Lasalle, ON) scored 10 points along with adding four boards.

The teams exchanged buckets early on, with neither able to establish a lot of momentum. The Capers slowly pulled away in the first quarter, and held a 26-20 lead by the time the teams came back from a break.

Early in the second quarter, X went on a solid run and tied the game with a couple of big shots from behind the arc, but the Capers pushed back, at one point pulling ahead by 10 points. The Capers lead 51-43 at halftime.

Both teams came out quick after the break, and again traded scores, with the Capers again pulling ahead with the X Women hanging in. In the fourth quarter, CBU increased their lead and didn't look back, eventually taking both wins from the X Women over the weekend.

The Capers next head to Wolfville for a tilt with Acadia on Friday night. The X Women travel to UPEI on Friday to take on the Panthers.
