The UNB women's hockey team beat Dalhousie on November 18, at the Halifax Forum

The REDS got off to a hot start as Frederike Cyr (Candiac, QC) snuck a backhand goal past Dalhousie goalie Grace Beer (Oakville, ON) in the first minute of play. Later in the period, Lauren Carter (Milton, ON) scored off a breakaway to give the REDs a two goal lead heading into the first intermission.

The second period turned into a defensive battle as both teams picked up the intensity. The Tigers did a good job killing off a couple penalties late in the period to keep the REDS from expanding on their lead.

The REDS kept the pressure on in the third period and it looked like they might finally pull away when Beer made an incredible sprawling glove save midway through the period. The Dalhousie defence continued to hold strong in the third period, in particular their penalty kill unit. The Tigers came into the game tied for the worst PK percentage in the AUS, but managed not to give up a goal despite racking up six penalties in the game.

With six minutes left to play in the game, Tigers forward Olivia Eustace (Riverview, NB) redirected an Ava Benedict (Falmouth, NS) wrist shot between her legs to make it a one score difference. The goal is Eustace's seventh on the season, tying her for fifth place in the AUS.

The Tiger comeback fell short though as the REDS came away with the 2-1 victory to move to 12-0-1 on the season. With the loss, the Tigers fall to 7-5-2, dropping them behind Saint Mary's who moved up a spot with their win over Mount Allison.

Cyr, earned Subway player of the game honours for UNB thanks to her Early goal and consistent offensive pressure.

UNB will be back in action tomorrow at 3:00 pm.m as they take on Saint Mary's to complete their Halifax double header. The Tigers will enjoy a couple days of rest before traveling to Antigonish to face StFX on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
