Chenard makes 37 saves in Tigers loss to Moncton

Jérémy Michel scored twice late in the third period to lead the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus to a 4-3 win over the Dalhousie University Tigers on Saturday evening at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena in an Atlantic University Sport men's hockey game on the Moncton campus.

Jeremy Lapointe opened the scoring on the power play at 6:05 of the first period. Moncton increased their lead less than two minutes into the second period when Samuel Guilbault found the back of the net. The Tigers found some life when Jackson Van de Leest scored at 10:34 and Joseph Serpa at 12:40 to tie the game before the end of the second.

The final frame saw the Aigles Bleus break the tie when Jérémy Michel scored his team's third goal. He then scored into an empty net at 18:50 when the Tigers pulled their goalie in favor of a forward. Although that goal would prove to be the game winner, the Tigers still tried to stage a comeback with an Evan Mackinnon goal with 43 second left in the game.

Moncton's Felix-Anthony Ethier made 20 saves in the win, while at the other end, Nick Chenard had a busier night turning away 37 shots.

Dalhousie didn't score on two power plays and Moncton had two on 4 chances. Jeremy Michel was selected as the first star, Jeremy Lapointe as the second and goaltender Nicholas Chenard of the Tigers as the third.

Moncton will play two road games next weekend when they visit the Saint Mary's University Huskies on Friday and the Acadia University Axemen on Saturday. Dalhousie will play host to StFX X-Men on Wednesday evening.
