Saint Mary's Demale and Dalhousie's Burrows named Subway AUS Athletes of the Week

(HALIFAX, N.S.) Shae Demale from the Saint Mary's Huskies women's hockey team and Shamar Burrows from the Dalhousie Tigers men's basketball team have been named the Subway AUS Athletes of the Week for their respective performances for this past week.

Shae Demale of the Saint Mary’s Huskies women’s hockey team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport women’s athlete of the week for the week ending Dec. 4, 2022.

A fourth-year science student in her third year of eligibility from Red Deer, Alta., Demale scored one goal and added two assists in the Huskies’ 3-1 win over the U SPORTS no. 5-ranked StFX X-Women on Nov. 29.

The goal marked Demale’s 50th career regular season goal, tying her for 22nd in the AUS all-time record books and fifth all-time for Saint Mary’s.

This season, Demale sits second in the conference in goals with 12, second in shots on goal with 94 and third in points with 22.

Shamar Burrows of the Dalhousie Tigers men’s basketball team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week for the week ending Dec. 4, 2022.

A fifth-year public administration student in his fourth year of eligibility from Nassau, Bahamas, Burrows led the Tigers to an 83-53 victory Dec. 1 over the Acadia Axemen.

He scored 22 points in the win, going 10-13 from the field, and added seven rebounds, six assists and three steals. He was named Subway Player of the Game for his efforts.

 

At the end of first semester play, Burrows leads the conference in steals with 23 on the season.
