Emily Duffy of the UPEI Panthers women’s rugby team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport women’s athlete of the week for the week ending October 23, 2022.
A third-year kinesiology student from Saint John, New Brunswick, Duffy was instrumental in propelling the Panthers to their first-ever AUS championship appearance. In last week’s hard-fought semi-final against the reigning champion STFX X-Women, she scored both tries for UPEI, resulting in a 14-12 win on home soil.
The Panthers will visit the Acadia Axewomen tomorrow, Wednesday, October 26, for the Subway AUS Rugby Championship at 6 pm. Both finalists have earned berths at the U SPORTS championship, hosted by the University of Victoria from November 2 to 6.

Kyle Maksimovich of the UPEI Panthers men’s hockey team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week for the week ending October 23, 2022.
A science student from Hamilton, Ontario, Maksimovich put together his best weekend of the season, recording six points for the Panthers over two games. The third-year forward netted a hat trick and an assist in Friday's 9-1 win over Saint Mary's—the Huskies’ first loss of the season. He followed up his big night with two more helpers in UPEI’s 5-3 victory over the Acadia Axemen on Saturday.
This weekend, the Panthers will face both the Huskies and Axemen again.
