CBU's Letlow and Dalhousie's Bouma named Subway AUS Athletes of the Week

(HALIFAX, N.S.) Thanks to their stellar performances last weekend, these two rookies are this week's Subway AUS Athletes of the Week. Congratulations to Kiyara Letlow of the CBU Capers women's basketball and Adam Bouma of Dalhousie Tigers swimming.

Kiyara Letlow of the CBU Capers women’s basketball team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week for the week ending November 28, 2021. 

A first-year player hailing from Toronto, Ontario, Letlow’s standout performance led the Capers to a pair of home victories last weekend. In Saturday’s 70-53 win over the UNB Reds, the 6'1" forward fashioned a double-double—21 points and 21 rebounds, including eight on the offensive glass—while adding one assist, one steal and one blocked shot. In Sunday’s thrilling 75-69 overtime win over the Saint Mary's Huskies, Letlow finished with 29 points and 23 rebounds, including nine on the offensive end, as well as two assists and one blocked shot.

Letlow leads the AUS with an average of 21.4 points per game and is second in rebounding (15.1 RPG). She is third and second, respectively, in those categories at the U SPORTS level.

Adam Bouma of the Dalhousie Tigers men’s swim team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week for the week ending November 28, 2021. 

A first-year science student from Belleville, Ontario, Bouma led the Tigers to a team victory at the 2021 Kemp-Fry Invitational swim meet hosted by Dalhousie University. Over the course of the weekend, he earned three first-place finishes, winning the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke events with national championship-qualifying times. Bouma entered the Dalhousie all-time top 10 in all three events and set new Dalhousie, AUS and Nova Scotia senior records in the 100m breaststroke, with a time of 1:01.87.

He also helped the Tigers win the 4x100m medley relay with a U SPORTS-qualifying time. AUS swimming competition resumes in 2022 when Dalhousie hosts the AUS Invitational on January 15-16.
