Dalhousie's Crowell and Karlsen named Subway AUS Athletes of the Week

(HALIFAX, N.S.) Dalhousie Tigers swimmers Reagan Crowell and Alec Karlsen have been named the Subway AUS Athletes of the Week for their respective performances for this past week.

Reagan Crowell from the Dalhousie Tigers women’s swim team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport female athlete of the week for the week ending Feb. 10, 2019.

A first-year medical sciences student from Lakeville, N.B., Crowell led the Tigers to their 18th consecutive team conference championship win over the weekend.

She won gold in the 400m and 800m freestyle events and the 400m individual medley. She earned two more wins as part of the Tigers 400m and 800m relay teams and added a silver in the 200m freestyle event. Her weekend medal tally totaled five gold and one silver.

This year’s AUS rookie of the year, Crowell was named both the female rookie and swimmer of the championship meet for her efforts.

Alec Karlsen from the Dalhousie Tigers men’s swim team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week for the week ending Feb. 10, 2019.

A third-year computer science major from Bærum, Norway, Karlsen led the Tigers to their 22nd consecutive AUS championship win over the weekend.

He earned four gold medals, swimming to victory in the 200m and 400m individual medley events, the 200m butterfly and as a member of the Tigers 800m freestyle relay team. He also added a fourth-place finish in the 200m backstroke.

Karlsen was named the male swimmer of the meet for his efforts in the AUS championship.
