Victoria Haworth of the Dalhousie Tigers women’s volleyball team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport female athlete of the week for the week ending Jan. 20, 2019.
A fourth-year medical sciences student from Waverley, N.S., Haworth led the Tigers to three weekend victories over the Memorial Sea-Hawks this past weekend in St. John’s, N.L.
She earned a total of 15.5 points with nine kills in as many attacks and added six aces and digs in the Tigers’ 3-0 win Friday night, earning Subway Player of the Game honours as a result.
She was steady again Saturday night, earning 6.5 points with five kills and an ace to lead the Tigers to another 3-0 win over the Sea-Hawks.
On Sunday, she recorded 11 kills, three digs, two aces and a stuff block, good for 14.0 points in the Tigers third and final 3-0 win over the host Sea-Hawks.

Paul Watson of the Cape Breton Capers men’s basketball team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week for the week ending Jan. 20, 2019.
A third-year community studies student from Mississauga, Ont., Watson helped lead the Capers to two victories this past week over the StFX X-Men and the Acadia Axemen.
Watson played 49 minutes in a thrilling 118-110 double OT victory over StFX on Wednesday night. He had 18 points, 21 rebounds, six assists, two steals and a block.
On Sunday afternoon he again was dominant on boards with nine rebounds and two blocks to go along with his 13 points, four steals and three assists as the Capers defeated Acadia 82-56 for their third straight victory.
Watson currently leads the country in defensive rebounds, averaging 7.6 per game. He sits second in the AUS conference in assists (3.9 per game) and in steals (2.2 per game).
