(HALIFAX, N.S.) - Bridget Brennan of the StFX X-Women's track and field team and Matthew Coolen of the Dalhousie Tigers track and field team have been named the Subway AUS Athletes of the Week for their respective performances for this past week.

Bridget Brennan of the St. Francis Xavier X-Women’s track and field team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport female athlete of the week for the week ending Feb. 28, 2016.
A first-year education student in her fifth year of eligibility, Brennan was named the AUS female athlete of the meet at the Subway AUS Track and Field Championships held in Moncton this past weekend.
She won the gold medal in the 300m dash with a time of 41.07, bronze in the pentathlon (3489 pts) and bronze with the X-Women 4x400m relay team (4:02.64).
She also placed fourth in the long jump (5.26m) and competed in the 60m dash. Her pentathlon results were first place in the 60m hurdles and 800m, second place in the long jump and fourth place in the high jump and shot put.

Matthew Coolen of the Dalhousie Tigers men’s track and field team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week for the week ending Feb. 28, 2016.
A first-year engineering student from Halifax, N.S., Coolen was named the AUS rookie of the year and track athlete of the year after a stellar performance at the AUS championships this past weekend.
In his first ever AUS championship, Coolen won the 60m dash, setting a new AUS record. He crossed the finish line in 6.82 seconds, beating the record previously set in 2001 by Saint Mary’s Jason Hilchie.
Coolen also won the 60m hurdles event, setting another AUS record. He clocked a time of 8.38 seconds beating the record Kevin O’Neill (Saint Mary’s) set in 2012.
He also grabbed a silver medal as part of Dalhousie’s 4x200m relay team.
