Dalhousie's Facca and Cape Breton's Dorsey named Subway AUS Athletes of the Week

Louise Facca of the CIS No. 3-ranked Dalhousie Tigers women’s volleyball team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 27, 2013.
Facca, a fifth-year outside hitter from Aurora, Ont., recorded 15 kills, 18 digs, 8 aces and finished the weekend with 24.0 points as the first place Tigers improved to 13-2 with back-to-back 3-0 road wins over the UNB Varsity Reds and Moncton Aigles Bleues.
In Saturday’s straight set win over the V-Reds, Louise had five kills, one ace and four digs as the Tigers officially clinched a first round bye in this year’s Subway AUS women’s volleyball championship. In Sunday’s 3-0 victory over the second place Aigles Bleues, she had another outstanding match, finishing with 10 kills, 14 digs and seven service aces. With Sunday’s win, the Tigers also locked up first place overall in the conference standings.
Facca, a first team AUS all-star in each of the past two seasons, currently ranks fourth in AUS kills (2.86 per game), second in aces (0.53 per game) and sixth in scoring (3.6 points per game).
The Tigers are now riding an 11-game winning streak and have not lost a single set in their past six contests.

Jimmy Dorsey of the CIS No. 3-ranked Cape Breton Capers men’s basketball team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 27, 2013.
Dorsey, a senior from Baltimore, MD., averaged 23.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 4.0 steals in a pair of exciting road wins this past weekend as the Capers remained the only undefeated team in CIS regular season play this year, improving to a perfect 14-0 on the season.
Jimmy, a 2012 first team CIS all-Canadian and the reigning AUS player of the year, scored 33 points and added seven rebounds, nine assists and five steals in an 85-80 win over the Saint Mary’s Huskies Friday night.
In Saturday’s 76-74 triumph over the Dalhousie Tigers, Dorsey netted 14 points and added two rebounds, three assists and three steals as the Capers won their 14th regular season game in a row to sit in first place in the AUS standings.
The 6-foot-2 CBU guard currently leads the AUS in scoring (21.1 points per game), assists (4.9 per game) and steals (3.9 per game). His 3.9 steals per game also leads the country.
