Tigers, Capers, Axewomen, X-Women open soccer seasons with weekend sweeps

The Dalhousie Tigers, Cape Breton Capers, Acadia Axewomen and StFX X-Women each got off to a great start in AUS women's soccer action, with weekend sweeps of their opponents. 

On opening night, the Tigers edged crosstown rivals Saint Mary's 2-1 at the Wanderer's Grounds in Halifax. They went on to down the Mount Allison Mounties 3-1 Sunday in Sackville, N.B.

Meanwhile, in Wolfville Friday night, the Axewomen earned a 4-0 win over the Mount Allison Mounties. They then posted a commanding 6-0 win while visiting the Huskies Sunday in Halifax. 

The defending AUS champion and U SPORTS silver medalist Cape Breton Capers opened the season with two wins at home--edging the UNB Reds 2-1 on Saturday and the Monton Aigles Bleues 4-1 on Sunday. 

The StFX X-Women followed suit with two weekend wins at home. They downed Moncton 3-2 on Saturday and UNB 1-0 on Sunday.
