Sea-Hawks top host Aigles Bleues 4-0 to advance to Subway AUS Women's Soccer Championship semifinal

(MONCTON, N.B.) - The host Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues were eliminated from further play Thursday evening as the Memorial Sea-Hawks downed them 4-0 in quarter-final action of the Subway AUS Women's Soccer Championship being held at Stade Moncton 2010 Stadium.

In the second game of the evening, eventual Subway Player of the game winner Hannah Rivkin (St. John's, N.L.) scored twice to lead the Sea-Hawks to a 4-0 win over the Aigles Bleues.

Second-year midfielder Maria Mackey (St. John's, N.L.) opened up the scoring with the evenutal game winner at 33:57.

Fourth-year midfielder Rivkin notched the next two markers for the Sea-Hawks. The first came at the end of the first half and the second at 58:38.

Third-year forward Jenny Tiller (Mount Pearl, N.L.) notched another insurance goal for Memorial at 78:18.

Keira Eavis, a third-year keeper from Conception Bay South, N.L., recorded the shutout for the Sea-Hawks, making three saves.

Fourth-year keeper Catherine Poirier (Caraquet, N.B.) recorded the loss for the host Aigles Bleues, facing 11 shots and making seven saves. 

The Sea-Hawks now advance to the semi-final round of the Subway AUS Women's Soccer championship. They face the No. 2-seeded Cape Breton Capers Friday at 7:15 p.m.

The two winning teams will advance to the final game on Sunday at 2 p.m.
