(ANTIGONISH, N.S.) - Victoria Parkinson (Halifax, N.S.) scored the game-winning goal in the 75th minute as the visiting Dalhousie Tigers defeated the StFX X-Women 2-1 in AUS soccer action Sunday afternoon at Oland Stadium.

Parkinson, from the top of the 18-yard box, deposited a high shot over the outstretched right hand of X-Women keeper Erin Visser (Whitby, Ont.). The junior striker converted a nifty pass from Scarlet Smith (Wolfville, N.S.) to score the go-ahead marker.

"They scored two great goals," Visser said after the match.

Visser made 11 saves for the blue and white, including a sliding effort against Smith in the second half that kept the match knotted at 1-1.

Subway player of the game Samantha MacDonald (Brampton, Ont.) opened the scoring in the 15th minute for the Tigers, converting a pass from striker Elise Bilodeau (Edmonton, Alta.).

The X-Women, in front of a partisan crowd of more than 300, scored the equalizer in the 25th minute from a corner kick, with Danielle Makar (Calgary, Alta.) heading a boot off the left foot of fellow freshman Elise Brennan (Brookside, N.S.) behind Dalhousie keeper Rachel Hunt (Halifax, N.S.).

The Tigers (2-2-1) return to action Wednesday, Sept. 24, when they host the Saint Mary's Huskies (0-5-1) at 5 p.m. The X-Women (2-1-2) will host the UNB Varsity Reds (4-0-1) Friday, Sept. 26 at Oland Stadium, beginning at 5 p.m.

"We have to learn from our mistakes [for next weekend] and continue to work hard," Visser said.
