The 2018 AUS women's rugby season kicked off Friday, with the defending champion StFX X-Women hosting the Saint Mary's Huskies in Antigonish, N.S. The X-Women managed a commanding 76-12 win. The Subway player of the game was StFX's Keely MacCuish who had three tries on the night. The player of the game for the Huskies was fullback Elish Redshaw.
Saturday afternoon in Wolfville, N.S., the Acadia Axewomen hosted the UPEI Panthers in the second matchup of the season-opening weekend. The Axewomen--2017 AUS runners up--posted a dominant 116-12 win over the Panthers. Second-year wing Bailey Dembicki added four tries to the Axewomen onslaught and was named the Subway player of the game.
