X-Women and Tommies clinch playoff berths

With a 5-2 victory over the Dalhousie Tigers Wednesday evening, the StFX X-Women have clinched their spot in the AUS women's hockey playoffs. Freshman X-Women forward Tyra Meropoulis had a hat trick in the game to contribute to the victory.

Despite falling in back-to-back games this weekend, the St. Thomas Tommies have also clinched a spot in the playoffs. The Tommies fell 5-3 on the road against the Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleues Friday evening, then lost 2-1 in overtime to the Saint Mary's Sunday afternoon, earning a point in the loss. The Tommies remain at the top of the standings with a 17-4-1 record and 35 points.

After their win over the league-leading Tommies on Saturday night, the Huskies kept rolling Sunday afternoon to earn a 5-2 win at home over the UNB Reds.

The Tigers hosted the Mount Allison Mounties on Friday, skating to a 3-1 win.

The UPEI Panthers played to a 3-2 win over the Mount Allison Mounties Wednesday evening, then fell 2-0 to the Reds on Saturday. The Panthers were scheduled to host the Mounties in a rematch on Sunday afternoon, however the game was postponed.
