Tommies finish first half of season with 10-game win streak

The St. Thomas Tommies continue to lead the AUS women's hockey standings, as they finish the first half of the season riding a 10-game winning streak, extending their record to 14-2.

To end off the first half of the season, the Tommies visited the UNB Reds on Wednesday evening, skating to a 2-1 victory. Olivia Reid and Emily Oleksuk scored just over two minutes apart in the third period to give the Tommies the win, with Lauren Henman earning Subway Player of the Game honours for setting up both goals.

St. Thomas then hosted the second place StFX X-Women on Friday night, earning a 2-1 shootout victory. Lauren Legault scored twice for the Tommies in the shootout, securing the win.

In Wednesday evening action, the X-Women skated to a 3-1 win over the Saint Mary's Huskies, while the Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleues earned a 4-2 victory at home over the Mount Allison Mounties.

The UPEI Panthers split their games this weekend, earning a close 2-1 win over the Dalhousie Tigers Friday night, however then fell to the UNB Reds 3-1 on Saturday.

The Huskies finished off the first half of the season with a 1-0 win over the Mounties on Saturday, to finish the first half of the season in third place with a 9-6-1 record, and 19 points.
