Reds earn pair of weekend wins to climb standings

The UNB Reds earned their first wins of the season over the weekend, defeating the Mount Allison Mounties 2-0 on Saturday evening, and earning a 3-1 victory over the UPEI Panthers on Sunday to rise up the AUS Women's hockey standings.

The StFX X-Women remain undefeated on the season as they blanked the St. Thomas Tommies 2-0 on Saturday, and completed their weekend sweep with a 2-0 win over the Dalhousie Tigers Sunday evening at the Halifax Forum.

In Friday night action, The Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleues defeated the Mounties 1-0, while the Tommies handed the Tigers a 1-0 loss. Goal scorer Emily Oleksuk was named Subway Player of the Game for the Tommies, with an honourable mention to both goaltenders as Abby Clarke picked up a 21 save shutout, and Dalhousie's Fabianna Petricca made a massive 47 stops.

The Tigers bounced back from their loss to the Tommies, as they earned a convincing 5-1 win over Aigles Bleues on Saturday.

With just one game this weekend, the Saint Mary's Huskies remain towards the top of the standings as they defeated the Panthers 3-0 on Saturday.
