The Saint Mary's Huskies and St. Thomas Tommies both earned weekend sweeps in the first week of AUS women's hockey action.
The Huskies kicked off the 2018-19 AUS women's hockey season against the Dalhousie Tigers Wednesday night. It took three periods, and a second overtime, but the Huskies came away with a 3-2 victory. Saint Mary's then visited the Mount Allison Mounties on Friday night, earning the 2-0 shutout win.
The Tommies opened their season with a convincing 4-0 win over the UPEI Panthers Friday evening, and finished the weekend off with a 2-1 double overtime victory over the UNB Reds on Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers bounced back from their double overtime loss to the Huskies with a 4-3 shooutout win over the StFX X-Women Friday night in Antigonish.
On Saturday, the X-Women visited the Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleues, earning a 5-2 victory, while the UNB Reds fell 2-1 to the Mounties in their return to the AUS.
The Panthers hosted the Aigles Bleues on Sunday afternoon, skating to a 6-3 victory on home ice.
