AUS Women's Hockey Weekly Round Up: Week 1

Friday, Oct. 13

UPEI 1 vs. Moncton 2 (Box Score)
(MONCTON, N.B) The Moncton Aigles Bleues skated to a 2-1 home opener win over the UPEI Panthers on Friday night. Katryne Villeneuve opened the scoring in the first, giving the Aigles Bleues a 1-0 lead. After a scoreless second, Janie Poitras gave Moncton a 2-0 edge at the 5:23 mark of the third. The Panthers got on the board with just over 30 seconds remaining in regulation with a powerplay goal from Sydnee Baker, but it was not enough as Moncton held on for the victory. 

St. Thomas 2 vs. StFX 5 (Box Score)
(ANTIGONISH, N.S.) The U SPORTS No. 7 ranked StFX X-Women surpassed the visiting St. Thomas University Tommies in a 5-2 victory Friday evening in the AUS season-opening game for both teams at the Charles V. Keating Centre. Read more: Recap

Mount Allison 2 vs. StFX 3 (Box Score)
(ANTIGONISH, N.S.) The StFX X-Women skated to a narrow 3-2 victory over the visiting Mount Allison Mounties Saturday afternoon at the Charles V. Keating Centre. StFX captain Daley Oddy scored a power play goal with just under two minutes to play in regulation to give the X-Women the victory. Read more: Recap

St. Thomas 4 vs. Dalhousie 5 (Box Score)
(HALIFAX, N.S.) On an action-packed homecoming weekend for the Dalhousie Tigers, the St. Thomas Tommies were in town to visit at the Civic Centre in Halifax. The game was the season opener for the Tigers, and in a high-scoring affair, they were able to come away with a 5-4 victory over the Tommies. Saint Mary's 2 vs. UPEI 1 (OT) (Box Score)
(CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I.) The UPEI Panthers hosted the Saint Mary's Huskies Saturday night, in a game that headed to an extra frame. In overtime, Saint Mary's Laura Polak found teammate Breanna Lanceleve on a nice cross-ice pass that freed her for the game-winning goal for the Huskies. Read more: Recap

Saint Mary's 2 vs. Moncton 0 (Box Score)
(MONCTON, N.B.) The Saint Mary's Huskies skated their way to a 2-0 victory over the Moncton Aigles Bleues Sunday. After a scoreless first period, a powerplay tally from Brooke Murphy at the 8:01 mark of the second put the Huskies on the board. Another power play goal in the third allowed the Huskies to extend their lead to two, with a tally from Siobhan Birch.

Dalhousie 4 vs. Mount Allison 1 (Box Score)
(SACKVILLE, N.B) The Dalhousie Tigers earned a 4-1 win over the Mount Allison Mounties in Sackville Sunday. Dalhousie's Corinne Desjardins opened the scoring just over two minutes into regulation to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. Despite the Mounties tying things up with a power play goal at the 9:14 mark of the first, Dalhousie's Tara Morning allowed the Tigers to regain their one goal lead heading into the second. After a scoreless second period, Dalhousie's Anikka Rose and Lisa MacLean found the back of the net in the third, giving the Tigers a 4-1 victory.
