(HALIFAX, N.S.) - There will be a third and deciding game in the Subway AUS Women's Hockey Playoffs semi-final series. The Moncton Aigles Bleues topped the Saint Mary's Huskies 2-1 Saturday at J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena to even the best-of-three series.
The third game will take place Monday evening in Halifax at 7 p.m. The Huskies earned a 3-2 win in Game 1 on Thursday.
Marie-Pier Corriveau opened up the scoring on the power play at 7:56 of the first period, with assists coming from Brittany Poitras and Katryne Villeneuve.
Just over a minute into the second frame Katherine Dubuc notched the eventual game winner for Moncton. Jennifer Arsenault assisted on the goal.
Hannah Askin put Saint Mary's on the board with four minutes left to play in the game, but the Huskies were unable to notch the equalizer.
Saint Mary's posted 35 shots on goal, compared to Moncton's 22. Gabrielle Forget earned the win in net for the Aigles Bleues. Rebecca Clark had 20 saves in the loss for the Huskies.
Forget was named Subway Player of the Game for the home team, while Rebecca Clark earned the honour for the visitors.
"It was a very good game, :said Moncton head coach Denis Ross. "We played well defensively in our zone and we stayed in our system of play. They are still a very dangerous team and we need to polish our systems a bit. It will be a very difficult third game. Both teams know what it means."
