(FREDERICTON, N.B.) - The St. Thomas Tommies snapped a four-game losing streak with a 4-1 win over the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers, Wednesday night in front of 96 spectators at the Grant-Harvey Centre.

Lauren Henman and Michelle Savoie picked up two assists each for the Tommies, while Marina Sergina, Caley Steinert, Teah Anderson, and Becky Conner all scored in the win.

Cassidy McCabe was the lone goal-scorer for the Panthers.

"They played a good game," Tommies head coach Peter Murphy said of his team. "That's probably our best game of the second half and it may be one of our best of the year."

The Panthers opened the scoring 4:27 into the first when McCabe redirected a shot from the point that beat Tommies netminder Abby Cook.

Conner responded for the Tommies at 16:47 after tipping a shot past UPEI goaltender Marie-Soleil Deschenes to tie the game 1-1 after 20 minutes.

The Tommies controlled the play early in the second and eventually capitalized when Anderson finished a nice feed in front of the net. Sergina extended the Tommies' lead at 15:47, tipping the puck past Deschenes to put STU up 3-1 heading into the third.

Steinert kept the Tommies momentum going, scoring the game winner just 3:15 into the final frame.

The Tommies are back in action Friday when they host the Saint Mary's Huskies. The Panthers will travel to Halifax to take on the Dalhousie Tigers.
