Marie-Pier Arsenault leads Aigles Bleues to 4-1 win over Tommies

(MONCTON, N.B.) – Marie-Pier Arsenault scored twice to lead the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (8-2-1) to a 4-1 win over the St. Thomas University Tommies (6-5-0) in an AUS women's hockey game played Friday evening at the J.-Louis Lévesque Arena, on the Moncton campus.

Amélie Dion and Brittany Poitras had the other Aigles goals. Moncton led 1-0 after the first period and 2-1 after two.

Teah Anderson was the lone Tommies player to get the puck behind Émilie Bouchard, who had 25 shots.

Abby Clark stopped 32 shots in net for the Tommies.

"We had them offensively and we were much more aggressive on the puck," said Moncton coach Denis Ross. "Defensively, we need better cohesion between the defence and the offense. We led in most sectors in this game. We will have another big game Saturday."

Marie-Pier Arsenault was all smiles after her two goals. "This is a nice victory for us," she said. "There is nice chemistry on our line right now, we were intense. We had not played a home game for a long while and we wanted to win this one. We were playing against the third place team and we wanted to distance ourselves in the standings."

The Aigles Bleues will now host Mount Allison Mounties (3-6-1) Saturday at 2 p.m. at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena.

St. Thomas will then host the Mounties Sunday at 2 p.m.
